Curriculum Development, Preparation of Educational Materials and Student Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation, Consultancy
The purposes of this project are to strengthen the technical capacity of the Institute for Educational Problems (IEP) and the Assessment Unit of IEP, to support the curriculum development process, to introduce new methods of interactive teaching and learning, to carry out a selected grade and sample based assessment of subjects in pilot and non pilot schools. The reforms contemplated in assessment and examinations provide the approach to monitoring, reviewing and evaluating the performance of the system and its key components and to assessing the outcomes of the learning/teaching process as related to student performance.
The consultancy services provided by Cito focus on capacity building in curriculum development and assessment.
Training and consultancy are provided through seminars and workshops. Seminar topics are: concepts of national standards, curriculum syllabi, school-based student assessment and national assessment. Special attention is given to the interrelationship between these concepts and their relevance for educational quality and outcomes.
Capacity building in large-scale assessment of student learning is achieved through providing a conceptual model, pilot assessment of two subjects in grade 5, mathematics and language, in the pilot schools and in a number of non-pilot schools.
Surveys on student achievement, teachers, households, education management and schools are organised for monitoring and evaluation.
