Construction of Test Instruments
Participants will become familiar with a general framework for test construction consisting of eight steps.
The course consists of four parts:
- Functions of tests
After the introduction of different functions of tests, some tests will be discussed as examples.
- Specification of tests
The construction of tests in the Netherlands will be discussed, with special emphasis on the examination model and test grid. The participants will construct their own test grid or convert their own tests into one of the test grids discussed.
- Test analysis
Participants will discuss the methods of analysing test results and the contribution of test analyses to test construction.
- Justification of tests
In the Netherlands the quality of tests is rated according to the so-called revised Dutch rating system. The results are public. The rating procedure will be discussed along with ways of informing stakeholders about test results.
Participants are invited to bring their own materials. The trainer will contact the participants concerning the types of materials.
As part of this course, participants will have an opportunity to discuss their own tests with Cito specialists.
