Driver Risk Assessment

The Driver Risk Assessment provides insight into the risks that individual drivers run of being involved, sooner or later, in accidents involving material damage or personal injury. The result of this assessment is expressed in the form of a risk classification (low, medium or high). Group overviews are provided for the organisation itself, taking into account all the participants. DHV The Driver Risk Assessment consists of a series of questions on how the driver acts in different traffic situations, which can be more or less dangerous. The driver is also asked about his driving history, such as damage and fines. Scores are made on the basis of these responses and a profile is made of the driver’s driving style and related risks. Situational Awareness Test

The Situational Awareness Test provides insight into one of the most fundamental driver skills: being alert to changes in the traffic situation. This appears to be one of the most important skills for avoiding potential hazards in a timely manner. The results are also expressed according to three levels: ‘improvement needed’, ‘satisfactory but improvement advisable’, and ‘good’. The Situational Awareness Test is composed of 40 tasks, each introduced by a video clip of a traffic situation. Sometimes the respondent must react during the clip, sometimes after the clip. What is then measured is the respondent’s level of awareness of a range of different factors in these traffic situations, and how he acts as a result.

Driver Self Assessment

The Driver Self Assessment is used as a form of preparation for driver training. Drivers get to see themselves in the mirror. The assessment shows how they consider their own driving behaviour. On the training day, it is good to compare this self-image with the impression that the driver trainer has got from the assessment of the client’s driving. The Driver Self Assessment consists of 45 illustrated questions about the driving behaviour of the respondent in a range of situations. This assessment is often used as a preparation for practical training, during which a practical assessment will also be carried out.

Driver Performance Assessment

The Driver Performance Assessment provides the most direct form of information during driver training. Well-prepared driver trainers assess the participant’s driving in an on-road drive. The participant’s self-image can then be compared to the trainer’s observations. The subsequent feedback discussion offers personal advice on driving behaviour and driving style. The Driver Performance Assessment is carried out by driver trainers during on-road training. The client’s driving is assessed according to factors such as vehicle control, environmentally-aware driving, safety, aiding traffic flow and consideration for other road users.
